Chapter 14 - the challenge

One evening, while Dante's family was having a warm dinner, a bulletproof car screeched to a halt in front of the estate's gates. Marcus, Dante's new right-hand man, walked in with an incredibly tense and serious expression.

"Boss, we have a problem," Marcus reported quietly into Dante's ear. "The Falcone gang in the West has started encroaching on our docks. They think our family is weakened after the internal purge."

Dante frowned slightly. The Falcone gang was a formidable rival, notorious for their brutality and sinister tactics. The fact that they dared to openly advance proved they had prepared for an all-out war.

He gently put his napkin down, turning to smile reassuringly at Elena and little Ivy. "I have some business to take care of at the office. You two keep eating. Don't wait up for me."

Dante stepped into his office, the door closing, cutting off the warmth of the family. The aura of a gentle father instantly disappeared, giving way to the ruthlessness and decisiveness of a true boss.
