Chapter 16 - the end

Victor was thrown onto the cold dirt floor of an abandoned mine deep in the suburban woods. The blinding glare from the car headlights shone directly onto his pathetic face. Damian stepped out from the darkness, radiating an overwhelming murderous intent.
"I'm sorry! Damian, I swear I'll go far away! I'll never come back!" Victor cried out miserably, kneeling and begging at his brother's feet. His ultimate cowardice was clearly exposed. He was no longer the aggressive man who had dragged little Sophia by the arm that day.
Damian didn't show a single trace of emotion. He pulled his pistol from its holster, aiming straight at Victor's chest. "You had a chance to start your life over, Victor. But you chose to threaten my daughter one more time. My forgiveness has run dry."
"No! You can't kill me! We are blood brothers!" Victor screamed maniacally.
"You stopped being my blood the day you dragged Sophia across the floor," Damian replied coldly. A deafening gunshot echoed, tearing through the silent night of the dense forest. The traitor was permanently erased from this world.
