The next morning, the news simultaneously reported the collapse of a dangerous international crime ring. The Cross conglomerate's reputation wasn't dented in the slightest; on the contrary, it was solidly reinforced within the legitimate business world.
Sophia returned to the estate, bringing along the familiar stillness. Titan happily ran and played on the lush green grass, completely shedding the demeanor of the killing machine from last night. He became a lovely and extremely loyal pet dog once again.
Damian was sitting on the porch enjoying tea; seeing his daughter return, he smiled proudly. He didn't ask for the details of last night's battle, because he knew his daughter had handled everything in the most perfect and brilliant way.
"I am proud of you, Sophia," Damian said, his warm voice filled with love. "You protected the family's legacy without having to lose your own humanity. You are much better than me."
