Chapter 5 - The Treacherous Plot

Damian finally moved. He leaned back slowly in his expensive leather chair, steepling his fingers together. The natural light from the windows caught the cold, unforgiving calculation in his dark eyes.

"Leverage," Damian repeated, his voice dangerously quiet, echoing through the cedar wood panels. "Explain to me, Victor, why you dragged a child into my private sanctuary and assaulted her."

Victor wiped the sweat from his brow, trying to force his aggressive arrogance back into his voice.

"Because I know who she is, Damian!" Victor spat, pointing a shaking finger at Sophia. Bruno instantly let out a warning snarl, forcing Victor to drop his hand. "You thought you hid her perfectly. You thought no one would find out that the great, untouchable Damian Cross had a secret daughter living in a safe house in the suburbs."

Sophia didn't look scared. She just kept petting the dog, her brown eyes watching her uncle with calm observation.

"I intercepted her on the way to school," Victor continued, his greed completely overriding his survival instincts. "I brought her here to give you an ultimatum. You are going to sign over the entire southern port distribution network to me right now. Or the kid disappears forever."
