Chapter 7 - The Desperate Move

The cinematic realism of the moment crashed down on Victor. He looked at the giant black dog, realizing the beast wasn't just standing near the little girl—it was actively positioning its massive body as a physical shield between Sophia and him.

He had no leverage. He had no control. He was entirely trapped in a room with a mafia boss and a deadly guard dog, having just confessed to kidnapping the boss's only child.

Pure, unfiltered panic completely hijacked Victor’s brain.

"I'm not leaving here empty-handed!" Victor shrieked.

He reached wildly inside his tailored suit jacket, his fingers frantically grasping for the cold steel of the concealed pistol he had brought to threaten his brother.

He didn't even get the gun out of the holster.

Bruno moved faster than the human eye could track. The 150-pound beast launched forward, clearing the distance in a single, terrifying bound. The dog slammed its massive weight directly into Victor's chest, throwing him violently backward.

Victor crashed hard against the cedar wood panels, sliding down to the floor in absolute agony. Bruno stood directly over him, its massive paws pinning Victor’s arms to the ground, its jaws snapping inches from his terrified face.
