Chapter 9 - The Erasure

"Get the dog off him," Damian commanded the guards, his voice devoid of any warmth.
One of the enforcers stepped forward. Damian gave Bruno a subtle hand signal, and the massive black beast immediately stepped back, returning to sit faithfully by Sophia's side.
The guards violently hauled Victor off the floor, twisting his arms behind his back and disarming him.
"Damian, please! Don't do this!" Victor begged, thrashing desperately as the massive men dragged him toward the door. "I'm blood! You can't kill blood!"
"I'm not going to kill you, Victor," Damian replied smoothly, walking back to his desk. "But you no longer have a name. You no longer have a bank account. You no longer have a family. The guards are going to put you on a cargo ship headed overseas. If you ever return to American soil, you won't even make it past customs."
Victor's eyes widened in sheer horror. Stripped of his wealth and his syndicate protection, he was nothing. He was worse than dead.
"No! Please!" Victor's screams echoed down the long, luxurious mansion hallway, growing fainter and fainter as the guards dragged him away, completely erasing his existence from the empire.
