Chapter 49 - memories at the estate

With the storm passed, Sophia drove alone back to the quiet estate in the Boston suburbs. This place held all of her most precious childhood memories with her late, great father, Damian.
The first snow of the season began to fall, blanketing the branches of the ancient oak tree in white. Titan obediently ran and played on the cold snow, wagging his tail happily. The giant dog was always her most loyal companion.
Sophia stopped before two exquisitely carved white marble graves. One belonged to her father, Damian Cross, and the other to the legendary guard dog, Bruno. She gently placed two bouquets of pristine white roses on the cold stone pedestals.
"I protected our family's legacy, Father," Sophia whispered, her breath turning into a thin plume of white smoke in the cold air. "I didn't need to use violence, but I will never show leniency to any evil."
