Chapter 113 - the phantom's game

To find a ghost, the Carters had to use the oldest, most dangerous tool in the underworld: fear. Michael Jr. and Marcus Jr. descended into the deep, forgotten underbelly of Boston, visiting the criminal brokers who still operated in the dark margins of the city.

They didn't ask questions politely. They kicked down the steel doors of an underground gambling den, pinning the local information broker against a concrete wall.

"A phantom is threatening my daughter," Michael Jr. growled, pressing his forearm aggressively against the broker's throat. "Who is taking contracts off the grid? Give me a name, or I'll shut down your entire operation permanently."

Terrified by the suffocating aura of the Carter heir, the broker choked out a desperate whisper. "There is a middleman... he operates out of an abandoned railyard on the south side. He brokers hits for the Syndicate of Silence. Please, that's all I know!"

Michael Jr. dropped the man to the floor. The hunt was narrowing. They drove into the freezing, rain-swept night, arriving at the desolate, rusted railyard.

But Specter was already waiting for them. As soon as Michael Jr. stepped out of the armored SUV, a massive explosion tore through the front of the railyard, throwing him violently to the wet ground.
