Chapter 26 - cleaning up the aftermath

The next morning, the Carter estate was urgently undergoing repairs. The traces of the fierce battle from the previous night were wiped clean by the staff, leaving absolutely no marks, as if the shootout had never even happened.
Noah was having a small scratch on his forehead disinfected by Emily. The boy showed no pain; on the contrary, his eyes reflected a remarkable maturity. Last night had taught him the harshest lesson about the ruthlessness of power.
"You did very well, son," Michael walked into the room, proudly ruffling Noah's hair. "But you must remember, we use violence not to satisfy cruelty, but to protect the lives we love the most."
Noah nodded firmly. He clearly understood the boundary between a killer and a protector. He would inherit his father's throne, not through fear, but through intellect, bravery, and boundless compassion.
However, Mateo's attack had sounded an alarm. Michael realized that as long as he stood at the pinnacle of power, his family would never truly have permanent and eternal peace.
