Chapter 3 - The Order

The lead paramedic stepped forward, his defeated expression instantly transforming into professional outrage. He reached out to physically grab Emily by the shoulder and pull her away from the deceased infant.
"Who the hell are you?" the lead paramedic demanded, absolutely stunned by the audacity of the young woman in the light blue uniform. "Get away from the patient! You are contaminating a crime scene!"
Emily didn't flinch. She didn't cower or apologize.
Her realistic facial micro-expressions shifted from intense, emotional urgency to a fierce, commanding medical authority. Her dark eyes rapidly scanned Noah’s pale face, checking the exact hue of his lips, the dilation of his pupils, and the specific readings still flashing on the discarded cardiac monitor on the floor. Her sharp, hidden medical instincts instantly took over the entire room.
She swatted the paramedic's heavy hand away with vicious precision.
"The only person here who knows what you're missing," Emily stated, her voice fierce and vibrating with absolute confidence.
Michael stared at her, completely breathless. The terrifying mafia boss froze entirely, his overwhelming grief momentarily replaced by utter shock as he watched his quiet, invisible maid completely dominate the seasoned medical professionals. But his protective instincts for his son's body overrode his confusion.
"Emily... get out," Michael warned, his voice a low, trembling threat of violence. "Don't touch my son."
Emily completely ignored the mafia boss. She glared fiercely at the broad paramedic, pointing a demanding finger directly at the heavy thermal heating pads they had packed around the infant.
