Chapter 6 - The Boss's Protection

Before the paramedic's heavy hands could even graze Emily’s light blue uniform, Michael Carter moved with terrifying, explosive speed.

The devastated father vanished. The ruthless, lethal mafia kingpin returned.

Michael’s massive, tattooed hand shot upward, violently gripping the paramedic by the throat. With a single, brutal surge of strength, Michael lifted the broad man entirely off his feet and slammed him backward against the heavy oak wall. The crystal chandelier above rattled from the sheer force of the impact.

"Touch her again," Michael whispered, his voice a dark, murderous growl that chilled the entire room, "and I will rip your heart out of your chest with my bare hands."

Michael didn't need a medical degree to read the sheer guilt and panic radiating from the paramedic's eyes. The boss's survival instincts, honed by decades of street wars, recognized a traitor instantly. He pulled a heavy black pistol from the back of his waistband and pressed the barrel directly between the medic's eyes.

"Guards," Michael commanded without looking away from the traitor. "Get the ice."

The armed men at the door sprinted toward the kitchen.

Michael kept his weapon firmly pressed against the medic's skull, but he slowly turned his head to look down at the young woman in the maid uniform kneeling on his Persian rug.
