Chapter 85 - the underground hunt

Noah knew that hunting a ghost organization like the Obsidian Circle required utilizing the dark, forgotten channels of the city. He sought out an old informant, a shadowy broker who used to work directly under Michael Sr. before the great purge.

He found the broker in a dingy, smoke-filled pub near the shipping docks. The old man looked terrified when Noah sat across from him. The Carter name still commanded absolute, paralyzing fear in the deep underbelly of the city.

"I need the shipping manifests for all unauthorized chemical freighters that docked in Boston this week," Noah demanded quietly, his presence dominating the entire room. "Do not lie to me. The stakes are too high."

The broker trembled, sliding a crumpled flash drive across the sticky table. "It's a ghost ship, Mr. Carter. Registered to a shell company in Panama. It docked at pier forty-two tonight. They are unloading massive industrial ventilation canisters."

Noah stood up, leaving a stack of crisp bills on the table. The Obsidian Circle was planning to pump the weaponized neurotoxin directly into the city's central subway ventilation hub.
